One Last Hoorah: UB’s MFA Class of ’25 Comes Together Again
After years of workshops, late-night edits, and building our voices side by side, the University of Baltimore’s MFA Class of ’25 is reuniting at The Ivy for one final celebration of our work. I’ll be reading from my debut short story collection, Cold Girls Stay Quiet—a series of interconnected narratives about the ways young girls are silenced, and the quiet strength they carry. These stories, anchored by young journalist Maree, explore survival, self-preservation, and the thin line between truth-telling and ambition.
But this afternoon isn’t just about me—it’s about the remarkable writers I’ve had the privilege to grow alongside. You’ll hear from poets like Breasia Boyd, whose collection NuGrowth: a mixtape blends coming-of-age storytelling with the soundtrack of Black southern culture, Brianna Coleman, whose debut collection Yes I’m Changing reflects on love, change, and identity with humor and honesty, and Rosanne…
